Furnished room in friendly women-shared home – $950 all-inclusive – 5 minutes from Royal Roads University
I'm looking for a new roommate for a furnished room in my renovated 3-bedroom home in central Langford. The house is currently shared by two women and one extremely spoiled cat, and I'm hoping to find someone who will enjoy a comfortable, friendly, peaceful home rather than simply a place to sleep.
I'm a high school teacher and homeowner, and I share the house with another woman. We're friendly and happy to chat or hang out when we're around, but everyone has their own life and schedule—there's no expectation that roommates become instant best friends. Friends and partners are welcome to visit. This isn't a party house, but it also isn't a place where you need to tiptoe around or feel like a guest in someone else's home.
The household is LGBTQ+ friendly, clean, relaxed, and respectful.
The room
The bedroom is fully furnished with a twin-over-double loft-style bed. The lower level can be used as a bed, couch/reading nook, or extra storage, so there's quite a bit of flexibility in how you set up your space.
The bedroom has its own key lock, and the front door uses a coded entry.
$950/month includes:
All utilities
Wi-Fi
Air conditioning
Furnished bedroom
Bi-weekly professional cleaning of the common areas
Parking
The house has 1.5 bathrooms, new appliances, and a newly renovated interior.
The house & neighbourhood
One of my favourite things about the house is the outdoor space. There's a large backyard with established gardens, patio, and BBQ, and you're absolutely welcome to use and enjoy it.
We're within walking distance of grocery stores, coffee shops, restaurants, parks, shopping, and medical services. Several major bus routes stop directly across the street, and bike-share and car-share options are nearby, so it's very possible to live here without a car.
The location is particularly convenient for Royal Roads University and the West Shore, as well as anyone commuting into Victoria.
The property is also protected by Baxi, a small brown house tiger who considers cuddling an essential security service. He is friendly and very much part of the household, so this will be happiest home for someone who likes cats. 🐈
Who might be a good fit?
This could be a great home for a student or grad student, teacher, healthcare worker, practicum or co-op student, military member, young professional, or someone relocating to the Victoria area.
We're looking for someone who is considerate of shared spaces, reasonably tidy, and interested in a peaceful and comfortable home. You don't need to be an extrovert or hang out with us all the time—we just want everyone living here to feel comfortable saying hello, using the common spaces, having people over, and treating the house like their home too.
A few practical details:
Single occupancy only
Non-smokers only, including occasional/outdoor smokers
Previous landlord references required
Proof of income required
Summer storage arrangements may be available for students and military members who leave Victoria for the summer
The room is not available for long-term double occupancy, but tenants are welcome to have short-term guests stay with them in their room.
If you're interested, send me a message telling me a little about yourself, what brings you to Victoria/Langford, what your typical schedule is like, and what you're hoping for in a shared home.
And please feel free to tell me about yourself like a human rather than writing a formal rental application—I mostly want to get a sense of whether we'd be a good fit as housemates.
